Ballin’ on Belrose is a community walk/run event on Belrose Avenue in Daphne, between Main Street and Mobile Bay. It is a day of fun for all ages with DJ music, sponsor booths, food and drink, a kids’ play area with inflatables, face painting, photo ops and more. Named “Ballin’” for the Baller Dream Foundation, the event aims to raise funds to support the foundation’s efforts in supporting, comforting, and offering once-in-a-lifetime experiences to lift the spirits of children and young adults battling cancer.

Inspiration

This event was inspired by the 29029 Everesting Challenge, and has been adapted into a family-friendly, local event. Mount Everest is 29,029 feet tall, meaning its formidable peak sits at 5.5 miles above sea level. Using that elevation as our inspiration, we created a walk/run challenge where racers will travel a linear distance of 29,029 ft uphill on Belrose Avenue (plus trekking back down the hill between each climb, making the challenge a total of 10.5 miles).

Our “Everest Challenge”, while inspired by the brave climbers who ascend Mount Everest, is a community event appropriate for racers of all ages and fitness levels. Climb the hill just once or ascend it 11 times to complete the challenge — it’s all about showing up and having fun.
