On-Site Service 24/7/365

Baldwin County Sewer Service (BCSS) is excited about our annual Christmas ornament decorating contest, even though it will be a little different this year. With everything going on and many children learning virtually, we’ll still be providing the opportunity for local students to engage in a holiday art project, while simultaneously giving back to schools. Baldwin County children in grades K-12 are eligible to submit handmade Christmas ornaments for a chance to win prizes for themselves and for their schools. This is open to all schools- public, private, virtual and homeschool. Entries can be submitted by simply emailing or mailing a photo of the ornament and one completed Water is Worth It (WIWI) sheets. These quick, fun educational sheets will help kids learn what they can do to help in taking care of the sewer system and environment.

Instead of going into the schools this year, we are offering take home ornament kits and Water is Worth It activity sheets. There are two different ornaments to choose from – water drop salt dough and wooden ones and three different Water Is Worth It activity sheet options. We’re partnering with a local company, Wooden it Be Fun, to provide up to 150 ornament kits. The kits can be picked up from the grease container cabinets at the following locations. Feel free to grab a grease container and magnet while you’re there!

  • BCSS next to outdoor drop box by fence: 14747 Underwood Road Summerdale, AL
  • Daphne Utilities on the southeast corner of property: 900 Daphne Ave, Daphne, AL

Children and families are welcome to use their own materials to create ornaments, so using the kits is not required. Use of recycled and natural materials is encouraged to make their own ornaments or to decorate the ornaments from the kits. We encourage you to incorporate our cleaned water mascot, Crystal Clean, into the ornaments, and each submission should include a picture of the finished ornament and a picture of one completed WIWI sheet.

Please send submissions to us by email or mail BCSS by December 28, 2020. BCSS employees will judge the ornaments, and the winners will be announced by January 4, 2021.

  • A winner will be chosen from each age group and awarded $50 each:
      • Grades K-3, 4-8, and 9-12.
  • Each winner’s school will be awarded $250 to be used as needed.
  • Since ornaments will be chosen anonymously, one school could have more than one winner, so one school can receive up to $250.
